My work "Some of Us" remembers the gay men (and womyn) who suffered and perished simply for what they were or stood for in history.

"Before the beginning of World War II, the homosexual people in Germany, especially in Berlin, enjoyed more freedom and acceptance than anywhere else in the world. However, upon the rise of Adolf Hitler, gay men and, to a lesser extent, lesbians, were two of several groups targeted by the Nazi Party and were ultimately among the roster of Holocaust victims."

"Attacks on homosexuals and intolerance of homosexual practices have long existed, yet they have escalated in the past year," says the latest bi-monthly Human Rights Report of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), released on January 16. Indigo Boy, Wednesday 26 September, Cape Town

Poem inspired by this work:

Indigo Aspirations

Some of us were saved
But most of us drowned
While reaching for high stakes
As they trampled us down
Trodden beneath the surface
By their ambitions and hidden desires

Speak to me my shadow
Hidden within my true self
Reveal my buried dreams
Defeated by living nightmares
Trying to mask my true nature
Behind a breathing facade
