Although I am not concentrating on women and feminist issues, mothers play an equally important role in the upbringing of their sons. I have discussed the various roles and influences of women in the lives of boys and men earlier in indigo Boy.
Dividing men into "sensitive men" and construction workers no longer make sense in the world we live in.
Robert Bly writes:
"Our obligation - and I include in "our" all the women and men writing about gender - is to describe the 'masculine' in such a way that it does not exclude the 'masculine' in women, and yet hits a resonant string in the man's heart."
I have long been agreeing with journalist and feminist Susan Faludi, that I believe in a more holistic approach to gender and sexuality studies. It is dangerous to focus on specific 'masculine' or 'feminine' traits as all human beings are undoubtedly a delicate combination of both.
